Marc Márquez and Ducati on a winning streak, wins German GP
Marc Márquez delivered a commanding performance at the German Grand Prix, securing a decisive victory in the 30-lap MotoGP race at the Sachsenring. This win, Márquez's 69th in the premier class, elevates him to become the second-winningest rider in premier class history. The podium was an all-Ducati affair, with Alex Márquez of Gresini Racing Team finishing second, and Francesco Bagnaia rounding out the top three after a strong comeback ride.
Competing in his 200th MotoGP Grand Prix, Márquez launched perfectly from pole position. He demonstrated unmatched pace, particularly in the middle stages of the race, to pull away from the competition. This marks his seventh Sunday race win of the season and fourth consecutive victory. He also stands as the only rider to achieve nine wins at a single circuit in the MotoGP class.
Francesco Bagnaia, starting from eleventh on the grid, skillfully gained four positions in the initial laps before solidifying his third-place finish in the latter half of the race.
Following the 11th Grand Prix of the season, Marc Márquez has further extended his lead in the rider standings, now with 344 points and an 83-point advantage over brother Alex Márquez.
Francesco Bagnaia holds third place, 147 points behind his teammate. The Ducati Lenovo Team continues to lead the teams’ standings with 541 points, while Ducati maintains its top position in the manufacturers’ standings with 393 points.
The MotoGP season will continue with the 12th Grand Prix at the Automotodrom Brno in the Czech Republic, where the Ducati Lenovo Team is set to return to action on Friday, July 18th.
