Marc Márquez makes history with 5th consecutive MotoGP win at Brno
Marc Márquez delivered a dominant performance at the Automotodrom Brno, securing his 5th consecutive Grand Prix victory and, in doing so, etched a new record into Ducati’s history books.
Aboard the Ducati Lenovo Team’s Desmosedici GP, Márquez became the first rider from the Bologna-based manufacturer to achieve this remarkable feat in MotoGP. Teammate Francesco Bagnaia finished a solid 4th, narrowly missing a podium spot by just half a second.
Márquez’s race began with him holding 2nd place, briefly taking the lead before settling into 3rd. He regained 2nd on lap two, shadowing Marco Bezzecchi until lap 8. A decisive overtake at Turn 3 allowed Márquez to pull away definitively in the latter half of the race, controlling his lead to the finish.
Bagnaia, despite a strong start, initially fell behind the leading pack. However, he found a powerful rhythm as the race progressed, closing the gap significantly, though ultimately unable to challenge for 3rd in the final stages.
As the 12th Grand Prix of the season concludes, Marc Márquez extends his championship lead to 120 points over Alex Márquez, bringing his total to 381 points. Francesco Bagnaia holds third place overall, 168 points behind his teammate.
The Ducati Lenovo Team maintains its lead in the teams’ standings with 594 points, while Ducati also holds the top position in the manufacturers’ standings with 430 points.
The Ducati Lenovo Team is scheduled to return to action after the summer break at Spielberg, Austria, from August 15–17, for the 13th Grand Prix of the season.
