Indian Motorcycle reimagines its 1940s Chief with the 2026 Chief Vintage
Indian Motorcycle has unveiled the 2026 Indian Chief Vintage as part of its year-long 125th anniversary celebration, reimagining one of its most iconic motorcycles for a new generation of riders. Inspired by the 1940s Chief, the latest model blends heritage styling with modern performance, paying tribute to the brand’s golden age of American motorcycling.
The Chief Vintage is defined by its flowing valanced fenders, unmistakable silhouette, and period-correct detailing that recall post-war Indian Motorcycle designs. From the lit headdress fender ornament and wire-spoke wheels to the narrow rear subframe and vintage-style handlebars, the motorcycle reflects a faithful interpretation of the original Chief, updated with contemporary craftsmanship and ergonomics.

It represents the spirit of Indian Motorcycle – bold, timeless, and always pushing forward.”
Powering the 2026 Chief Vintage is Indian Motorcycle’s air-cooled Thunderstroke 116 V-Twin engine, producing 156 Nm of torque for strong, effortless performance. Riders can choose between three ride modes—Tour, Standard, and Sport—to tailor throttle response to different riding conditions.
Despite its classic appearance, the Chief Vintage is equipped with modern technology, including a 101 mm (4-inch) round touchscreen display powered by RIDE COMMAND. Updated software improves system responsiveness, while App Enhanced Navigation* allows routes from Google Maps, Waze, or Apple Maps to be sent directly to the display. The system also supports music, calls, and messaging when paired with a smartphone and compatible helmet communicator.
A range of factory accessories, including windshields, saddlebags, highway bars, and two-up seating options, further enhances comfort and practicality while preserving the motorcycle’s vintage character.
