R NineT Option 719 packages offered
BMW Motorrad hopes to make itself more accessible to more riders with the addition of its latest model, the C 400 X. The new scooter hopes to compete in the growing and lucrative midsize touring scooter segment.

Like its off-roading siblings, the scooters bare a distinctive asymmetric headlight design. Unlike its larger C 650 siblings, the C 400 has more boxy design. It features an LED headlight with the same Y-shaped daytime running lamp as the R1250 GS.

Powering it is a 350cc liquid-cooled, single cylinder engine. It produces 34 PS at 7,500 rpm and 35 Nm at 6,000 rpm. It delivers power to the rear wheels via a CVT. Power delivery is governed by ABS and automatic stability control (ASC). It can travel up to a top speed of 140 km/h.

Under the seat is some incredibly large storage, capable of fitting two full face helmets. The main helmet compartment features as fold-out flexcase that provides additional luggage room for helmets, bags and anything else. There are also compartments in the leg shield, with one compartment specifically designed for smart phones, including an integrated power outlet.

Trip info is displayed on a large, full color TFT screen. This can be configured via the multi-controller on the left handlebar, similar to the GS models.

The new model will go on sale next year at PhP450,000 and will be positioned below its present scooter offerings, the C650 Sport and GT. BMW has not specified whether it will be deemed highway legal.
