Motorcycle riders and their families could benefit from this new 'Pamilya Pass 1+3'
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., alongside the First Lady and their family, has launched the “Pamilya Pass 1+3” initiative, extending a more affordable travel option not only to the commuting public, but also to motorcycle riders and their families using Metro Manila’s major rail lines. This program, a component of the Bagong Pilipinas initiative, aims to ease transportation costs and foster quality family time.
Recognizing that many Filipinos travel with family members on weekends, President Marcos highlighted that the “Pamilya Pass 1+3” on the MRT-3 and LRT Lines 1 and 2 will allow these families to spend less on fares when taking the train on Sundays, freeing up resources for other family activities.
“Ang kultura ng Pilipino, pag Linggo, para sa pamilya ‘yan. Para sa mga mahal sa buhay para mabigyan natin ng pagkakataon ang ating mga kababayan na maramdaman naman nila ang Linggo.,” the President said.

Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon said the government’s commitment is to making public transport more accessible and affordable for all Filipinos. He also noted that President Marcos specifically directed efforts to make public transportation more budget-friendly, and the “Pamilya Pass 1+3” will directly help make their family time more enjoyable without the added expense of multiple individual fares.
What does it mean to motorcycle riders and their families?
As we all know, motorcycles, by design, can only allow up to two occupants: the rider and the pillion rider. So, when a motorcycle rider’s family wants to go to the malls or visit relatives on a Sunday, the father and mother usually risk it by riding together with the kids on their motorcycle. This is, actually, a safety risk and is against the law (RA 10666), which may result in hefty fines, especially now with the MMDA’s NCAP.
That said, motorcycle riders may also take advantage of the government’s Pamilya Pass 1+3 to travel by train instead with their families on Sundays.
Under the Pamilya Pass 1+3 scheme, which already began on June 1, and lasting until the final Sunday of 2028, for every one paying family member, up to three additional family members can ride for FREE on all major rail lines. This includes parents and children, grandparents and grandchildren, siblings, and even uncles and aunts or guardians with dependents.
