CB125 refreshed for 2026-onwards
The Honda CB125, a model with a lineage stretching back to 1971, once held a prominent position in Honda Philippines’ lineup as a popular “standard” motorcycle. Its appeal stemmed from its straightforward design and its excellent fuel efficiency. However, with the surge in scooter popularity, Honda eventually discontinued the CB125, focusing its “standard” motorcycle offerings on the business models a.k.a. pantra TMX Alpha and Supremo.
Now, the CB125 is set to make a comeback, this time boasting modern upgrades including a 4.2-inch TFT screen and an innovative feature for a manual transmission: Honda’s Idling Stop System (ISS).
700 kilometers in 1 full tank
According to Honda, the 2026 CB125F has a revised, enhanced Smart Power (eSP) engine, engineered for both robust performance (for a 125cc) and exceptional fuel economy. Equipped with a new O2 sensor and updated ECU settings, it achieves EURO5+ compliance alongside an impressive fuel efficiency of 66.7 km/l, potentially yielding a range exceeding 700 km from its 11-liter fuel tank.
A key revision to the engine is the inclusion of the ISS—a first for a manual transmission Honda motorcycle. Previously seen only in scooters and the DCT Gold Wing Tour, this technology enhances fuel efficiency and lowers emissions by automatically stopping the engine at idle and seamlessly restarting it when the clutch is released in any gear.
Honda also says that the revised engine is paired with sophisticated styling that amplifies its “big bike character”. A new, broad-shouldered fuel tank, reminiscent of larger CB models, takes center stage. This is complemented by a refreshed front nose and a more compact, blacked-out fly screen, while a revised large mass rear cowling adds to the dynamic profile. The visual overhaul is crowned by an all-new LED lighting for both the front and rear, each featuring a unique, distinct vertical signature designed for high visibility.
As mentioned, the 2026 model year boasts a new full-color 4.2-inch TFT display that relays key information clearly. Also, for the first time on the CB125F, the TFT screen is equipped with smartphone connectivity via Honda RoadSync for seamless calls and music streaming. For convenient smartphone charging, a USB-C socket is also included near the handlebars.
While the CB125F will be offered in Europe in Red, Blue, and Matte Axis Grey, Pinoy riders will need to await further announcements about its availability and pricing in the Philippines.
