Concept EV FUN e-motorcycle now undergoing testing in Europe
Honda is taking a decisive step into the future of electric mobility, recently releasing new imagery of its EV FUN Concept electric motorcycle undergoing extensive road testing on the roads of Europe.
The mid-sized naked bike is designed to challenge the perception of electric vehicles, with a dedicated focus on delivering the exhilarating ride and “fun factor” that has long been a hallmark of the Honda brand. The bike, first shown at the EICMA show, is a key part of Honda’s multi-faceted approach to achieving zero-emissions mobility.
A key insight into this important project is that its development is led by Masatsugu Tanaka, a veteran engineer with a storied career spanning over two decades of developing iconic gas-powered models like the CBR series, the Gold Wing, and the Africa Twin. His leadership signals that Honda is transferring its legacy of engineering excellence directly to its EV program. Tanaka’s team, along with a passionate group of young engineers, is focused on creating a machine that provides a quiet, smooth ride while still offering a deep sense of unity and excitement, a philosophy he calls “Be the Wind.”
“Building on my 20 years of experience with Honda’s ICE motorcycle models, we have applied the know-how accumulated over these years to the EV motorcycle, to create a model that is genuinely exciting to ride,” says Tanaka.
The bike’s design prioritizes both dynamic performance and everyday practicality. It features a fixed battery pack and CCS2 quick charging compatibility to ensure riders can easily recharge and avoid long downtimes. These technological features, combined with extensive real-world testing in Europe, are meant to provide a level of reliability and convenience for a new generation of motorists.
The team’s efforts aim to produce an electric motorcycle that isn’t just a basic form of transport, but a truly enjoyable machine that lives up to the Honda name by making every ride a genuine experience.
