EM1 e: e-bike soon on Honda PH dealerships
As fuel prices continue to be relatively high and the quality of public transport remains poor, electric two-wheel mobility has been getting traction in the market as more people begin to switch or buy these electric motorcycles and scooters.
Collectively known here in the country simply as “e-bikes”, new brands that offer these zero emissions two-wheelers are introduced each month.
Recently, Honda Philippines has officially announced that it will join the e-bike bandwagon with its EM1e: scooter. SRP: PHP 155,400.
EM1 e:
The EM1 e: was first introduced at the 2022 EICMA and is designed to be an urban personal mobility scooter with a limited range of only 48 kilometers in ECON riding mode.
The EM1 e: – the ‘EM’ stands for Electric Moped – is based on a Chinese-market U-Go scooter, is powered by a 1.7 kW (equivalent to about 2.3 Ps) hub motor and boasts a removable Honda Mobile Power Pack (HMPP) for battery-swapping.
Top speed is about 45 kilometers per hour.
The HMPP is available as spare parts, according to Honda, and will retail at PHP 42,500 while the HMPP charger-only deck will be retailed at PHP 18,000.
Electric expansion in the PH
Honda PH has also announced its plans for the Philippine market with regard to its electric mobility offerings. According to Honda, the company’s electrification roadmap for the Philippines will begin this year with the introduction of its electric models. From 2025 to 2030, it will expand its two-wheel business to include a range of models with battery-swapping technology, as well as plug-in electric models.
By 2035, Honda PH says that it will be a “full-fledged business expansion” for its electric two-wheeler range.
