Chris Hemsworth shares heartfelt father-son motorcycle ride on National Geographic Channel

If you’ve been around the motorcycle scene long enough, chances are you’re familiar with the Long Way series starring Ewan McGregor (yes, Obi-Wan from Star Wars) and Charley Boorman. It first aired on BBC Two in 2004 before later reaching global audiences through the National Geographic Channel, becoming a staple for fans of motorcycle travel documentaries.

But if you missed that, there’s another ride worth catching up on.

Chris Hemsworth, best known as Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, steps into a far more personal role in A Road Trip to Remember, a documentary centered on a father-son motorcycle journey with his dad, Craig, who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.

Set across Australia, the series follows the duo in a quieter but deeply meaningful ride through coastal roads and rural countryside routes. The younger Hemsworth calls it a therapeutic “road trip back in time,” revisiting familiar places tied to their shared past in the hope of slowing down the disease, while also rekindling memories and strengthening their bond.

Along the way, “Thor” also looks at research suggesting that strong social connections and regular interaction may help support brain health and could play a role in slowing cognitive decline and improving overall well-being.

Across Australia’s familiar landscapes, A Road Trip to Remember offers viewers a quieter kind of motorcycle journey. It is less about distance and more about time spent together, revisiting shared memories and simply being present on the road.

It also leaves a simple question for many Pinoy riders: if given the chance, would you take a ride like this with your father, not only in moments of declining health, but while there is still time to simply share the road and create new memories together?
