KTM production line stops at Mattighofen
Just a few days ago, KTM announced that it would be dropping the CFMOTO distributorship in Europe as part of a move to streamline its core businesses. Now, the Austrian motorcycle manufacturer has announced that it will shut down its home production plant due to a lack of critical components in the assembly process.

“Due to serious supply chain problems, it is impossible to continue production as planned,” says KTM CEO Gottfried Neumeister. “Stocks were only sufficient for around 4,200 motorcycles, and now there is a shortage of essential components. Production in Mattighofen will therefore be suspended until 27 July.”
This is actually the second time in recent history (COVID lockdown not included) that KTM had to halt production of motorcycles. In late 2024, the company was forced to stop production and lay off hundreds of employees as it went into self-administration. In March 2025, motorcycle production restarted as creditors approved its restructuring plan that was submitted the month prior.
The news of KTM’s production halt due to a lack of components is concerning, especially to KTM motorcycle owners. These owners worldwide will be understandably anxious about whether this will translate to difficulties in sourcing spare parts for their motorcycles.
