SocMed accounts of LTO fixers dismantled by LTO Region IV-A

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) Region IV-A CALABARZON, under the leadership of Regional Director Elmer Decena, has successfully facilitated the removal of 20 fake social media accounts and pages that were illicitly using the LTO’s name.

These fraudulent accounts were being utilized to deceive the public by offering spurious online assistance for various LTO transactions, including driver’s license applications and vehicle registrations.

“We strongly advise the public not to patronize these types of services. This not only causes headaches, but also damages your wallet,” said Decena. He emphasized that any individual or entity a.k.a. fixers, offering “express services” promising expedited transactions in exchange for higher fees are fraudulent.

“We will not let anyone who creates fake online assistance get away. You will be held accountable under the law. We at LTO CALABARZON will continue to monitor and fight this type of deception,” added Decena.

The fraudulent accounts often mimicked official LTO pages, posting offers for “express service” at inflated costs. Some were also used to illicitly collect personal information and payments from unsuspecting victims.

Currently, 20 such fake social media accounts using the LTO’s name have been reported and successfully deleted by Meta, the parent company of Facebook. LTO CALABARZON, in collaboration with law enforcement authorities, is actively continuing its operations to identify and apprehend the individuals responsible for these deceptive online activities.

The LTO also urged the public to verify any transactions exclusively through the official LTO website and its official social media pages. The agency also encouraged anyone with information regarding suspicious online assistance services to cooperate with authorities to facilitate immediate action.
