Anti-fixer warning sign posted in LTO Headquarters
It’s no secret that many of Land Transportation Office’s (LTO) premises are littered with fixers – individuals whose job is to 1) make transactions easier (or sometimes bend the rules) for the client or 2) misrepresent/scam the client into getting a fake document or ID, usually a driver’s license or vehicle registration documents, in exchange for a hefty “service fee.”
Following the directive of LTO chief, Atty. Vigor Mendoza II, and Oplan Kaayusan, the LTO’s Intelligence and Investigation Division (IID) headed by Renante Melitante, have put a sign warning the public against transacting with fixers and instructed the public to only transact with authorized LTO personnel.
The public is also instructed to proceed to LTO HQ’s Public Assistance and Complaint Desk for questions or concerns. Just recently, the LTO’s IID, with the help of the Quezon City Police District, conducted anti-fixing operations as part of Oplan Kaayusan.
