LTO Region 6 launches Oplan: Stop, Plate and Go to distribute MC plates
The Land Transportation Office Region 6 (LTO R6) has intensified its campaign to distribute unclaimed motorcycle plates with the launch of “Oplan: Stop, Plate and Go” at Jaro Plaza and other key locations in Iloilo City.
Under the supervision of Regional Director Atty. Gaudioso Geduspan II and Assistant Regional Director Jeck Conlu, teams from the LTO Regional Law Enforcement Section 6 (RLES) set up checkpoints to perform on-the-spot plate replacements.
This initiative involves bringing unclaimed motorcycle license plates out of the office’s stockpile and onto the streets, providing a more convenient way for motorists to finally get their plates.
According to Conlu, motorists whose plates are available are “happily receiving their plates on the spot” instead of a citation ticket from the agency.
For those whose plates are not immediately on hand, LTO personnel assisted motorists with live tracking using the agency’s digital system.
In July 15, 2025, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and LTO announced that the motorcycle license plate backlog, which haunted the agency since 2014, has been finally resolved. LTO added that the agency significantly ramped up its plate production in the last two years and as of June 30, 2025, a total of 18,578,612 license plates have been produced, effectively eliminating the backlog.
Meanwhile, as of August 3, LTO R6 reports that it has successfully released over 27,000 motorcycle plates in Western Visayas.
