MM93 and Ducati secures 7th straight win in Hungary
To say that Marc Márquez and the Ducati Lenovo Team are dominating the 2025 MotoGP season is quite an understatement, as the team has extended its remarkable winning streak to seven consecutive races with a commanding victory at the Grand Prix of Hungary at Balaton Park.
The win cements Márquez’s and Ducati’s lead in the championship standings, and it makes the 2025 MotoGP season appear like a one-make race for the Italian marque.
Starting from the front row, Márquez’s race began with an early scare after a coming together with a fellow rider. After quickly recovering to second place, he patiently managed his pace before making his decisive move on lap 11 to take the lead. From there, he managed the gap effortlessly, ultimately crossing the finish line with a more than four-second lead. The victory, according to Márquez, was largely due to his strategic tire choice.
“I was lucky not to crash after the coming together with Bezzecchi: I wasn’t expecting him to slow down that much at turn two, and I ran into him. My mistake. I lost one position and from there, my race had a new start: I stayed patient, knowing I had the medium tire on my side. I got it up to the perfect temperature, and then I started pushing. The tire choice really made the difference, as this morning I realized that with the medium, I was able to lap at the same pace as the others on the soft. I knew that as the race went on, I’d be able to keep the same rhythm,” says the 32-year-old Spaniard who now holds an impressive 455 points, extending his lead over the runner-up by 175 points.
Meanwhile, his teammate Francesco Bagnaia, starting from a difficult 13th position, showed a marked improvement in his performance. Despite a long-lap penalty that dropped him to ninth at the finish, Bagnaia expressed optimism, stating he felt better on the bike with each passing lap.
The team will return to action from September 5 to 7 for the Grand Prix of Catalonia.
