Electric vehicle maker lends bikes to the MMDA
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will be silently patrolling the streets with new electric motorcycles. The agency has received 8 electric motorcycles lent by electric vehicle maker, Star 8 Corp., for their operations as part of the COVID-19 task force.
EDSA boss, Edison “Bong” Nebrija, led the inspection of the units as they were turned over to the MMDA by Star 8 Green Technology Corporation. “Because they saw the need of our enforcers for a mode of transport to their respective posts during this ECQ., Star 8 Corporation decided to lend us 8 Maverick Electric Motorcycles. Your kindness and support to our team is very much appreciated.”
The Maverick e-motorcycles, which closely resemble standard street motorcycles, will be deployed on EDSA to help the MMDA enforce the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) protocols along this busy thoroughfare.
Star 8 Corp. speciallizes in building electric mobility vehicles, motorcycles, and even Modern PUVs.
Besides the ability to recharge the traditional way through a power outlet, Star 8 Green Technology Corporation says that the Maverick also has swappable batteries ready. These allow users to replace the battery it is using with a newly charged one without having to wait. It is also available with a choice of lead-acid or lithium battery.
The Maverick e-motorcycle has a top speed of 50 kilometers per hour with a range of 50 kilometers in one charge. It is powered by a 2000-watt brushless motor, and charging time is anywhere between 6-8 hours. They're distributed by Star 8 Corp. and can be legally registered with the LTO.
