TRB authorizes toll fee hike on NLEX
Heads-up motorists who frequently use NLEX: the Toll Regulatory Board has approved a toll fee hike for North Luzon Expressway, effective March 2, 2025. Under the new toll fee adjustment, Class 1 vehicles/400cc and above motorcycles will have to pay an additional PHP 5.00 on the open system, while an additional PHP 0.72 will be added per kilometer in the closed system.
For example, in the open system from Balintawak to Maycauayan, Class 1 vehicles/400cc and above motorcycles will have to pay PHP 79.00 vs the current PHP 74.00. For Class 1 vehicles/400cc and above motorcycles who are traveling the full length of NLEX from Balintawak to Mabalacat, you’ll have to pay an additional PHP 57.00, or PHP 416.00 from the current PHP 359.00.
According to NLEX Corporation, from 2021 to 2024, the tollway company has embarked on infrastructure projects and improvements in its road networks that enhanced the safety, mobility, and convenience of motorists. Notable achievements include the road raising of the San Simon area, expansion of the Meycauayan Northbound Exit and construction of the new F. Raymundo Northbound Exit in Brgy. Pandayan, Meycauayan, revitalization of the Balintawak Cloverleaf, improvements in roadway lighting and furniture, and the enhancement and safety repairs of bridges and overpasses as well as the old Candaba Viaduct. System enhancements and equipment upgrades were also completed to improve motorists’ experience at the toll plazas.
The adjustments, which followed regulatory procedures and underwent thorough review, are the consolidated amount of the first tranche of the approved periodic adjustments of NLEX due in 2023 and the add-on toll for the completion of the PHP 7.7 billion new Candaba 3rd Viaduct in 2024. The increase due in 2023 was deferred and divided into two tranches to ease the impact on expressway users.
Motorists are advised to ensure that their Easytrip RFID tag has sufficient load before traveling to avoid delays.
