Sport Touring Pan America unveiled by Harley-Davidson in Thailand
7 years ago, Harley-Davidson (HD) went out of its comfort zone and started developing an adventure bike from an American perspective. Then in 2021, this very American adventure bike landed in the PH and MotoPinas.com had the privilege to be one of the first few (in the Philippines) to try out the Pan America 1250 Special on places where it truly belongs: the back country roads of the Cordilleras.
This year, HD reimagines the ‘Pan Am’, with new tire size, quick shifter and lower seat height – all to make it more road-biased, and according to Harley-Davidson’s own words: Built to lean.
This is the Pan America ST.
ST = Sport Touring
For those who are well-versed in HD terminology, “ST” denotes Soft Tail, but since this is not one of those cruisers, the “ST” in Pan America 1250 stands for Sport Touring – which is exactly what this updated adventure bike is for.
So what happened is that HD engineers took the standard Pan America 1250 Special and swapped the wheels for 17-inch rims, lowered the seat, lowered the windshield, and blacked out painted everything.
Power still comes from its potent, 1,250 cc V-twin Revolution Max engine that can generate up to 150 hp of power and 127 nm of torque, which it transfers to a six-speed transmission with quickshifter as standard equipment.
PH availability
While the new Pan America ST was unveiled during the MotoGP race weekend in our neighbor, Thailand, our friends from Harley-Davidson have said that the chances of having this new model here in the country are close to slim, citing “unpredictable big bike market landscape” here in the PH.
To give you an idea on what might be the ST’s SRP, should it land here in the PH, the Pan America 1250 Special currently retails at PHP 1,400,000. That said, the Pan America 1250 ST’s SRP could be close to that.
