DPWH announces start of EDSA rehab at busway
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has announced that the long-overdue EDSA Rehabilitation Project will begin by the end of this month and will be done in segments. Additionally, the project will commence from the EDSA bus lane.
According to DPWH, by end of March 2025, the first segment of the rehabilitation will start at the northbound portion of the EDSA Busway, from Quezon City/Caloocan boundary to Monumento.
The DPWH-NCR assures that the EDSA bus carousel will remain operational, however, it will be temporarily relocated to its adjacent lane, while EDSA bus stations remain open for the commuters. Once the closed segments from the first lane are fully rehabilitated, the EDSA bus lane will move back to its original lane to accommodate its regular operations.
DPWH Secretary, Manuel Bonoan, emphasized the project’s importance, stating that it is a long-term investment in Metro Manila’s infrastructure. “The President wants to improve the riding quality of Filipinos in EDSA. We will rehabilitate the entire EDSA starting 2025,” Bonoan said in an earlier interview.
The DPWH acknowledges that the rehabilitation will cause temporary inconveniences, but it is confident that the long-term benefits will outweigh the short-term disruptions.
