Preview of the Onslaught Hard Enduro Series Vermosa
Earlier this month marked the introduction of the Onslaught Hard Enduro Series—a new competition poised to deliver a significant test of endurance and skill to enduro riders. The phrase “much suffering” might even be an understatement, as our friends from Ride For Solidarity (RFS) and Enduro Factory (EF) have meticulously crafted an exceptionally technical (and challenging) enduro course in Vermosa, Imus, with the clear intention of aligning it with rigorous international hard enduro standards.
About a few days ago, the guys gave us a sneak peek at what’s in store for enduro riders who want to take home up to PHP 500,000 per series leg, and up to PHP 1,000,000 in the grand finale.
The Carpark
For those acquainted with parking structures in Bonifacio Global City (BGC), the concept of a double stacker – a mechanical lift designed to park two vehicles vertically, one atop the other – is likely a familiar sight. These space-saving devices efficiently maximize parking capacity.
Now, in a creative and demanding twist at Vermosa, the organizers have repurposed the remnants of a discarded double stacker machine, transforming it into a formidable obstacle. Participants will be challenged to ascend this makeshift wall with their enduro bikes, culminating in a 10-foot leap to the next section of the course.
Logs, logs, more logs!
As is customary in any hard enduro event, log jumps were a fundamental and ever-present feature of the Onslaught Hard Enduro Series and the sheer volume of these obstacles made it impossible for us to count them all.
Competitors will face a relentless barrage of single logs, deceptively unstable floating logs, numerous stacks of multiple logs demanding careful navigation, and even sideways-oriented logs that will present a unique set of challenges.
Maynilad
For those who are always on the road, the sight of Maynilad’s excavations to lay their massive PVC water pipes is a common occurrence, a necessary step in ensuring Metro Manila’s stable water flow.
In an ingenious and demanding repurposing for the Onslaught Hard Enduro event, the organizers from RFS and EF have seemingly taken a few of these very pipes and turned them into a slick and highly challenging obstacle for the participating riders.
Rock Garden
While the word “garden” typically evokes images of tranquility and ease, this “Rock Garden” is a brutal test of enduro prowess. The organizers have intentionally crafted a boulder-filled section guaranteed to bring significant agony and suffering to the Onslaught participants, demanding the utmost skill and precision.
To escalate the difficulty even further, they’ve strategically integrated unpredictable floating logs within this already formidable rock garden.
The preview we’ve offered only scratches the surface of the demanding challenges that await participants on the Onslaught Hard Enduro course. Numerous other formidable obstacles lie in wait, their specifics intentionally kept secret for the riders to discover firsthand.
After all, the ultimate reward for conquering this brutal terrain and showcasing exceptional hard enduro skills is a substantial PHP 1,000,000 grand prize, making every grueling section a high-stakes battle.
