Dan’s introduces the ultra-light Bell Scout Air helmet
Since 1954, Bell Helmets has earned its reputation as one of the most trusted names in motorsport head protection. Widely regarded as a pioneer in motorcycle helmet innovation, Bell made history with the introduction of the Bell 500-TK, which featured a groundbreaking multi-layer construction with hard fiberglass shell, foam liner, and padded interior. This design set a new benchmark for rider safety and laid the foundation for modern helmet technology.
Fast-forward to 2025, Bell Helmets, through its official Philippine distributor, Dan’s, introduces arguably the lightest motorcycle helmet available in the local market today at only (more or less) 800 grams: the Scout Air.
Lightest and slimmest
I’m not exactly sure if there’s such a word as “slimmest,” but I am very sure that the new Scout Air is very slim. In fact, I think this is slimmer than my old tabo helmet, which I got free from the motorcycle dealer a few years ago. Tabo helmet is the colloquial term for cheap helmets that may or may not have met the minimum safety standards set by the European Economic Commission (ECE) or the US DOT.
But unlike my tabo helmet that barely has any liner or protection, the Bell Scout Air features an advanced and innovative “In-mold” construction that combines the Tri-Matrix composite shell (aramid, carbon fiber and fiberglass) with the internal EPS liner.
For those new to high-performance materials, aramid fiber is an advanced, heat-resistant synthetic material best known for its use in ballistic armor, flame-retardant suits, and impact-reinforced composites, perfect where toughness meets reliability.
Carbon fiber, on the other hand, is an ultra-light material composed of tightly woven carbon filaments. Renowned for its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio, it’s the same material used in aerospace engineering, supercars, and racing gear.
The final result is an extremely compact, lightweight helmet that surpasses both DOT and ECE certification requirements.
Other key features include a quick-release interchangeable beak that allows riders to switch between a short or extended visor depending on preference, a secure D-ring retention system for safety, and again, Bell’s proprietary Tri-Matrix composite shell for superior strength and lightweight performance.

Availability
The new Bell Scout Air meets or exceeds current US DOT and ECE safety certifications. Here in the country, Dan’s offers the Scout Air in Gloss Black, and my personal favorite, Gloss Vintage White, with an SRP of PHP 9,990. Soon, additional colors will also be available in Gloss Kelp (like moss green), Nardo Gray, and many more.
