Royal Enfield testing the new 750 cc Interceptor
It’s been 6 years since Royal Enfield (RE) first introduced the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 (650 Twins) here in the country and so far, no major update has been done by the Chennai-based manufacturer.
Now, it seems that RE is ready to up their game on the 650 Twins as an undisguised 750 cc version of the Interceptor has been seen loitering the busy Indian streets.
According to an Instagram post by _gthm_, which was quickly reuploaded by gentlemenandmotorcycles.co, the undisguised bike was in fact, a 750 cc version of the Interceptor 650. The bike – possibly undergoing real-world tests – had a “substantially bigger engine” than the 650, and is believed to be capable of producing up to 50 hp of power and 60 Nm of torque. The 650 Twins produces 48 hp of power and 52 Nm of torque.
On the obvious, the “spied” 750 cc Interceptor looks pretty much the same as the Interceptor 650, with minor cosmetic upgrades such as LED headlight, tail light and signal lights.
Additionally, the test mule sports an all-alloy front and rear wheels, dual disc brakes on the front, and a 5-inch TFT screen (similar to the Himalayan 450). The suspension, fuel tank and everything else has been retained from the Interceptor 650.
