Valico 800 DS Rally introduced at EICMA
Since its introduction in 2019, the Tenere 700 (T7) has been a consistent best-seller for Yamaha in Europe and Southeast Asia. Many adventure riders prefer the T7 as their adventure ride companion thanks to its robust construction, simplicity and only the basic electronics that are easy to fix even in the boondocks.
Other manufacturers have followed suit with their middleweight offerings and now, Chinese manufacturer VOGE – the premium brand of LONCIN – has introduced its own middleweight adventure bike: the Valico 800 DS Rally.
Built for real adventure
As the name implies, the Valico 800 DS Rally took inspiration from the bikes that compete at the Dakar Rally, complete with its towering windshield, long travel suspension, and tall seat.
Unlike Yamaha’s T7, the Valico 800 DS Rally has a massive yet slim 24-liter fuel tank, which ensures that this bike was designed with going the distance in mind.
The Valico 800DS Rally is powered by a new 798 cc parallel-twin engine, delivering 94 ps of power and 81 nm of torque, which the rider can control through various riding modes. The T7’s CP2 engine delivers 72 ps of power and 68 nm of torque.
The Valico 800 DS Rally’s engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission equipped with slipper clutch.
Other features include TFT screen with Bluetooth connectivity, off-road-biased 21”/18” front and rear wire wheels, adjustable KYB suspension, and switchable ABS and traction control. VOGE claims that the Valico 800 DS Rally’s dry weight is 213 kg.
