Can-Am is developing 2-wheeler EVs

2 years ago, Can-Am – a Canadian-based company renowned for its 3-wheeled recreational vehicles – announced that it would again delve into creating motorcycles and that the upcoming lineup would be the first EVs (electric vehicles) in its lineup.

Now, Can-Am has released a new video teasing fans with what seems to be an upcoming adventure bike and street bike.

New 2-wheelers

As promised, 2024 will be the year that Can-Am will be back in producing 2-wheelers. In its recent YouTube video, Can-Am seems to be on the right track and on schedule in the development of what seems to be an adventure bike and a street bike.

“We are trying to define what could be the future of electric motorcycles,” said Andre Gilbert, Can-Am’s R&D director for electric vehicles.

Can-Am, through its VP of advanced technologies, Jean-Francois Lambert, also said that during R&D and with the talent they have, the design and manufacturing processes for these upcoming motorcycles can be done in-house – meaning Can-Am no longer need to outsource from overseas like in Europe (design) and China (manufacturing). By doing so, Lambert adds, Can-Am has the ability to master the technology and at the same time be much agile.

Considering the lengthy development process of a motorcycle that was built from the ground up, the availability and pricing of Can-Am’s new 2-wheelers might be announced sometime in 2025 or 2026.
