Solons inquiry on this year's BOSS Ironman Motorcycle Challenge
Since its inception in the early 2000s, the BOSS Ironman Motorcycle Challenge has steadily grown to into a big motorcycle event and has attracted thousands of participants from all over the country, as well as riders from other parts of the globe.
Thousands of riders have joined this year’s Mindanao and Luzon events, eager to finish the whole route within the 24-hour prescribed time. While the organizers have maintained that they have put safeguards to make the event as safe as possible for all the participants and other road users, a series of unfortunate events still took place and have caught the attention of lawmakers.
The House Committee on Transportation, chaired by Antipolo 2nd District Representative, Cong. Romeo Acop, did an inquiry, in aid of legislation, to the 2024 BOSS Ironman Motorcycle Challenge powered by MOTUL.
There were two agendas: HR 1612 – Inquiry into the series of life-threatening incidents arising from the recent 2024 Boss Ironman Motorcycle Challenge Luzon Leg by Rep. Bonifacio Bosita of 1Rider Party List; and HR 1620 – Investigation into the involvement of motorcycle endurance event riders in road accidents in Dagupan City, San Juan in La Union, and Isabela on February 26, 2024, resulting in fatalities and injury, for the purpose of improving public safety by Rep. Richard Gomez, Leyte 4th District.
