For a good cause

This one-of-a-kind BMW R 18 Transcontinental, donated by BMW Motorrad and bearing the signature of Pope Leo XIV, was successfully auctioned by Missio Austria through Sotheby’s at Motorworld in Munich on October 18, 2025. The sale fetched an impressive EUR 130,000, with all proceeds directed toward children’s aid projects in the island country of Madagascar.

Reflecting on a successful charitable endeavor, BMW Motorrad CEO, Markus Flasch, commented on the unique motorcycle’s sale. He described the auction result for the Pope Leo XIV-signed R 18 Transcontinental as a “wonderful final highlight.”
