MotoGP rider Miguel Oliveira moves to BMW WSBK in 2026
BMW Motorrad Motorsport has finalized its factory line-up for the 2026 FIM Superbike World Championship (WSBK). Following the recent signing of Italian rider, Danilo Petrucci, the German manufacturer confirmed that Miguel Oliveira will join as his teammate in the ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team. The 30-year-old Portuguese rider makes the switch from MotoGP, where he has raced for seven seasons, to begin a new chapter aboard the BMW M 1000 RR.
Oliveira brings with him an impressive résumé across all three Grand Prix classes. After debuting in 2011 in the 125cc category and competing in Moto3 and Moto2, he stepped up to MotoGP in 2019. Over the past five years, he has celebrated five victories and four further podiums in the premier class. His transition to WorldSBK comes as BMW reshapes its rider roster, coinciding with reigning champion Toprak Razgatlioglu’s highly anticipated move to MotoGP for 2026.
BMW Motorrad Motorsport Head, Sven Blusch, welcomed Oliveira, praising his versatility and experience.
“Miguel has proven he is among the most talented riders of his generation. With victories in all three GP classes and five MotoGP wins, he brings both professionalism and competitiveness to our project. Paired with Danilo Petrucci, we now have a very strong rider duo to take the next step in our WorldSBK ambitions,” Blusch said.
The team also confirmed that Michael van der Mark, a BMW factory rider since 2021, will conclude his WorldSBK campaign at the end of the season. Discussions are underway for future collaborations within the BMW Motorrad Motorsport structure.
Oliveira expressed enthusiasm for the move, calling it an “exciting step” and highlighting BMW’s ambitious vision for the championship.
