Driver and tech-reinforced safety commitment launched by MOVE IT
MOVE IT is redefining motorcycle taxi safety with a new campaign that blends rider professionalism with real-time technology. Called the “Driver-Led, Tech-Reinforced Safety Commitment,” the program aims to make every trip safer, smoother, and more reliable for Filipino commuters.
The launch took place during the MOVE IT Moto-Taxi Road Safety Dialogue, where 31 rider-partner communities signed the Katuwang sa Kaligtasan sa Kalsada pledge. The signing, led by Motorcycle Community Philippines Chairman, Romeo Maglunsod, highlighted how safety on the road is not just about rules, but about culture — one built by riders themselves.
MOVE IT says its track record speaks for itself: 99.999% of daily rides are completed incident-free. But for the company, the mission is to push even closer to zero risk. “Near-perfect isn’t the finish line,” explained MOVE IT General Manager, Wayne Jacinto. “We need to keep raising the bar.”
The company’s Pasado Bago Pasada program ensures every rider undergoes strict onboarding, skills tests, and regular retraining. Beyond technical skills, MOVE IT also partnered with Ateneo’s Bulatao Center to create a first-of-its-kind behavioral assessment tool, measuring how riders respond under stress or sudden pressure, which is a critical factor in real-world road safety.
Technology also plays a key role. Overspeeding alerts, fatigue nudges, live trip monitoring, and soon, AudioProtect — a background audio recording feature — all aim to keep both riders and passengers safer on the road.
For commuters, it’s a promising sign that motorcycle taxis are moving closer to becoming not just a quick ride, but a trusted everyday option.
