BOSS commits to a ‘comprehensive review of its existing protocols to further enhance safety measures’
The BMW Owners Society of Saferiders (BOSS) released a statement following the recently concluded BOSS Ironman Motorcycle Challenge Mindanao Cup, held from January 30 to February 1, 2026.
According to BOSS, the organization shares the concerns raised by the public and emphasized that safety remains its highest priority. The group also committed to conducting a comprehensive review of its existing protocols to further enhance safety measures, and vowed to cooperate fully with the appropriate government agencies in this process.
BOSS also adds that 100% of the proceeds from the event will be donated to the underprivileged.
The following is the full text of the official statement from BOSS:
“We are deeply saddened by the passing of one of our rider-participants and by the injuries sustained by others during the recent BOSS Ironman Motorcycle Challenge in Mindanao. Our prayers are with the bereaved family, and everyone affected by this tragic loss.
We share the sentiments of the public we do not want accidents to happen. Safety has always been our highest priority. Thorough preparations were made in close coordination with Local Government Units, the Philippine National Police, the Land Transportation Office, the Bureau of Fire Protection, and other government agencies to ensure the safety of riders and spectators and the orderly conduct of the event.
To reduce the risk and rider fatigue, the event was conducted over two days with a mandatory overnight rest-stop, unlike earlier formats requiring completion within 24 hours. Group riding of five to ten riders was made mandatory to prevent racing and promote discipline, teamwork and camaraderie. Insurance coverage was also secured for all participants.
In addition, all participants were provided with a mobile phone app containing a vehicle GPS tracker supplied by a reputable service provider which tracks location of participants and ensures compliance with safety standards.
In briefings conducted prior to the event, we have repeatedly emphasized to participants the importance of complying with all national and local road safety regulations, especially those pertaining to traffic and maximum speed limits.
Despite these measures, we acknowledge with humility that risks can never be completely eliminated in events involving motorcycles and travelling over a substantial distance. In this regard, we commit to a comprehensive review of our protocols to further enhance safety and cooperate with the appropriate government agency in this regard.
We also affirm that one hundred percent of the proceeds from this event will be donated to the underprivileged a practice consistently observed since the inception of the BOSS Ironman, in keeping with its spirit of service and brotherhood.
We thank the public for their understanding and prayers as we honor the memory of our fallen rider through unity, responsibility and compassion.”
