The Desmo450 MX proves in 2nd leg of Italian MX series
Earlier this year, Ducati introduced its prototype motocross bike, the Desmo450 MX, which will be ridden by Alessandro Lupino and Antonio Cairoli.
Now, only a few months after it was presented to the public, the still-prototype Desmo450 MX made two podium finishes (third) in the 2nd round of the Italian Motocross Championship.
The prototype, already victorious in its debut last March in Mantua, represents the first step of a project that will see the birth of a complete range of off-road motorbikes, developed on the most demanding race tracks.
In the 2nd round of the Italian MX1 Championship, held on the Tittoni Circuit in Cingoli, the 8-time Italian Champion, after setting the fourth quickest time in qualifying, had a difficult race in both heats due to an earlier injury. In race 1, Alessandro made a good comeback after being delayed at the start. The rider from Viterbo gradually moved up and managed to obtain a 3rd position.
In the 2nd heat, Alessandro managed his race also in consideration of the pain and was able to overtake some riders ahead of him once again landing 3rd place.
The race in Cingoli allowed Ducati engineers to accumulate more precious data to support the development of the Desmo450 MX, whose race performance is confirming the validity of the technical base of the prototype.
The next race in the Italian Motocross Championship is scheduled for May 25 and 26 on the Montevarchi track in the province of Arezzo. During the month’s break, Alessandro Lupino and Tony Cairoli, present at Cingoli to support his brand mate, will continue the testing program of the Desmo450 MX.
