New Cardo Mesh Boost update lets Packtalk users connect up to 31 riders
Cardo Systems has rolled out a major software update for its Packtalk motorcycle communicators, allowing groups of up to 31 riders and passengers to stay connected through its Dynamic Mesh Communication (DMC) system.
Called Mesh Boost, the free update also adds Public Mesh and Remote Grouping. It is available over the air (OTA) through the Cardo Connect App for eligible 2nd-gen Packtalk devices.
The update covers the Packtalk Pro, Edge and Neo. Older Packtalk generations can still connect to riders using Mesh Boost, but they won’t get the new features on their own devices.
The biggest change is the jump to 31 connected riders and passengers, more than double the previous group capacity. For larger riding groups, that means more riders can stay on the same network instead of having to split into smaller groups.
Public Mesh is aimed at more spontaneous group communication. Riders can select the feature through the Cardo Connect App and connect with nearby DMC users within range without setting up a private group beforehand.
Remote Grouping, meanwhile, addresses a common headache during group rides when riders don’t all start from the same place, or just meet up along the way. A group organizer can create a group ahead of time and share a link through the Cardo Connect App. Once the riders are within range, their devices can automatically connect to the DMC network.
Cardo’s DMC system uses a self-adjusting mesh network that adapts as riders join, leave, or move out of range. There is no need to manually re-pair the devices every time the group changes.
Cardo said the update took longer than originally planned because it wanted to make sure the new features met its reliability standards before release.
“Mesh Boost has always been about making group communication simpler and more capable,” said Dan Emodi, Cardo’s chief marketing officer.
The Mesh Boost update does not yet cover Harley-Davidson and Schuberth SC-Edge units. Cardo expects those devices to receive their own Mesh Boost update in the fourth quarter of 2026.
Two other previously announced features, Private Chat+ and Cellular Intercom, are still under development and will be released at a later date.
The Cardo Connect App must be synced with the device to receive the update.
