Entry-level 400cc bikes already in the pipeline, says H-D
The Harley-Davidson X440 has gained quite a strong traction in India following its release in 2023, selling almost 15,000 units in its first seven months. Built by Hero MotoCorp for one of the world’s largest motorcycle markets, the model is powered by a 440cc air and oil-cooled engine that delivers a balance of everyday practicality and weekend adventure.
Naturally, when Harley-Davidson Asia, led by Mark O’Flaherty, visited the Philippines last week to launch their 2025 Cruiser 117 lineup, one of the questions we were eager to ask was whether the American brand’s “emerging markets-friendly” models, like the X440, might eventually make their way to the country, and if so, when?
During a casual chat with one of Harley-Davidson’s bosses who was present during the event, we got a hint of exciting news that the American brand is already planning to bring entry-level models to markets like the Philippines.
“There are plans in progress to bring small-displacement vehicles, but I think we should be waiting for more announcements. But, definitely, there’s already a plan in place,” said the H-D boss.
The executive also referenced outgoing CEO Jochen Zeitz’s 2025 Q2 presentation, where it was revealed that Harley-Davidson’s new entry-level motorcycle will be named the Sprint. According to Zeitz, the bike will be showcased at the Harley-Davidson dealer meeting this October, with its official public unveiling slated for the 2025 EICMA in Italy.
While further details remain scarce, the Sprint is expected to be a small-displacement motorcycle priced under USD 6,000 (roughly PHP 342,700), targeting both the U.S. and international markets, including the Philippines, in 2026.
