Honda to produce cheaper versions of its e-motorcycles in India
During the recent 2025 Honda Business Briefing led by its Director, President and Representative Executive Officer (Global CEO) Toshihiro Mibe, the company announced that it intends to capture the lead in the global e-motorcycle market by introducing ‘cheaper’ models manufactured in India.
“Looking ahead, Honda plans to modularize models specifically developed as electric vehicles and to commence production at a highly efficient, dedicated electric motorcycle production plant in India, which is expected to become operational in 2028. This initiative aims to further strengthen the company’s electric motorcycle business structure. Through these efforts, Honda intends to offer more affordable electric motorcycle models to a broader range of customers and, in the long term, aims to secure the number one market share in the electric motorcycle market,” said Honda via statement.

Also, to capitalize on this expanding demand, Honda says that it intends to offer appealing products tailored to the varied needs of its global customer base and to optimize its product supply system. Moreover, to maintain its leading position in environmental initiatives within the industry, Honda will accelerate the electrification of its motorcycle products. This rapid electrification of motorcycle products will be coupled with efforts to improve the fuel efficiency of its internal combustion engine (ICE) models and to expand its lineup of flex-fuel compatible models.
Honda has already commenced the sale of the Active e: and QC1 in February of this year, following its announcement in India the previous year. Additionally, sales of the CUV e: and ICON e:, its global electric commuter models, began initially in Indonesia, followed by Vietnam, Thailand, and the Philippines.
The CUV e: is also slated for release in Europe and Japan within the current year.
