MINI reportedly diversifying on two-wheels market

MINI has always been synonymous with British pop culture, largely thanks to the Mr. Bean television series in the late 80s to early 90s. Since 1969, MINI has been a British auto manufacturer offering a diverse model range of small cars, and even a Jeep-based Moke.

Beginning in 2000, the brand was acquired and owned by the BMW Group. This year, some reports say MINI might also diversify to the two-wheel market and may offer e-motorcycles based on BMW Motorrad’s current CE 02.

“If I have interest in our markets, this is something I would consider,” said Stefanie Wurst, Head of MINI when she was interviewed by Auto Express not too long ago on the subject of MINI-branded motorcycles.

“We have them in our family with BMW Motorrad… And they're offering electric versions as well,” added Wurst, implying that if and when MINI steps into the two-wheel market, they’ll be offering re-badged e-motorcycles from BMW Motorrad and perhaps re-styled with retro touches to conform with the brand’s classic looks.

“I think this is interesting because it's urban mobility,” said Wurst, further hinting that MINI is leaning towards small e-motorcycles like the CE 02.
