People R Hybrid 125 launched by KYMCO at EICMA
With fuel prices continuing to rise, motorists (including riders), are finding new ways to stretch every drop of gasoline. This growing focus on fuel efficiency has also pushed manufacturers to innovate and make their models more economical. For KYMCO, maximizing fuel savings means pairing traditional power with a boost from a small electric motor, which in this case is the starter motor.

At this year’s EICMA in Milan, Italy, KYMCO unveiled its latest innovation, the Tri-Power Technology, and it’s showcased for the first time in its newest model, the People R Hybrid 125. Yes, it’s a scooter equipped with a hybrid gasoline-electric powertrain designed not only to reduce emissions, but also to maximize every drop of fuel.
According to KYMCO, the Tri-Power Technology integrates an Intelligent Control System with an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG). When the system detects acceleration, it automatically engages the TPT Boost, providing electric assistance for quicker starts, smoother power delivery, and improved fuel efficiency.
This means the People R Hybrid 125 delivers a combined output of 12.7 PS, translating to a 13.6% increase in power output and a 5% improvement in 0–100 meter acceleration, now achieved in just 8.28 seconds. At the same time, it offers a 2.2% boost in cooling efficiency and an impressive 13.2% reduction in fuel consumption.
Other features of the new People R Hybrid 125 include Keihin’s 6th generation injection system, a patented water-cooling channel design, and a new CVT system with the integrated ISG. Modern conveniences include a Keyless system, USB-A + USB-C charging ports, full LED lighting, an LCD instrument panel, a spacious 205mm flat floorboard, and large-capacity under-seat storage.
Availability and pricing in the Philippines have yet to be announced by KYMCO Philippines.
