Only 1 million in license plate backlog, reports LTO
Back in August of 2024, Land Transportation Office (LTO) Assistant Secretary, Atty. Vigor Mendoza II, vowed to end the motorcycle license plate backlog by June of this year. Back then, LTO was facing at least 9 million license plates in backlog.
“Starting October [2024], we will be bringing out 1 million plates a month to cover the 9 million backlog. Para (so) exactly by June of next year, tapos na itong (we’re finished with the) 9-million backlog,” said Mendoza at the time.
The agency is now poised to deliver on its promise, proudly reporting that the license plate backlog has been reduced to just 1 million as of May 2025.
During a recent episode of the LTO’s Aksyon on the Spot, Nivette Pastorite, Chief of the agency’s Property Section, proudly announced a significant reduction in the national license plate backlog. From an initial 11 million at the start of President Bongbong Marcos’ term, the backlog was brought down to just 1 million as of last month, a feat they attributed to aggressive 24/7 production and outsourcing.
“Since the start of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s administration, the LTO has recorded around 11 million backlog plates. That’s why, upon the assumption of our Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II at LTO, he immediately focused on fixing this problem,” said Pastorite. “As of today [May 29, 2025], our backlog is down to just 1 million, and the rest have been produced and are ready to be dispatched to various LTO regional offices nationwide.”
LTO Tracker
Also in May, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and LTO launched the LTO Tracker. The LTO Tracker is a new web-based program where motorists can inquire about the availability of their vehicle or motorcycle’s license plate, as well as request a door-to-door delivery for a fee.

Log on to www.ltotracker.com/delivery and check if your Plate or License is available
Select Driver’s License or License Plate
For DL: Enter your license number and birth date
For Plates: Enter MV File Number or Plate Number on your CR
If it is available, you can pick it up from the location on the map
If you want to have it delivered, just enter the shipping information needed and proof of identity, and transaction
Pay via your chosen e-wallet (e.g., GCash)
Just wait and track the progress of the delivery
