Rider videos himself dancing while on traffic, LTO suspends his DL

Just a couple of days ago, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) has issued a 90-day preventive suspension to the driver’s license of a vlogger who uploaded a video with him dancing onboard his CFMOTO 450MT while riding on what appears to be an expressway.

Well, it seems that our roads have more than enough supply of “dancing riders”, as the LTO issued another 90-day preventive suspension to the driver’s license of another motorcycle rider. This suspension was imposed after a viral video (which this rider uploaded) showed the rider standing and dancing on top of his motorcycle while at a stoplight in Makati, and in full view of other motorists and pedestrians.

LTO Chief, Atty. Vigor Mendoza II, confirmed that a Show Cause Order (SCO) has also been issued to both the rider and the registered owner of the motorcycle, who is a resident of Binondo, Manila.

The SCO, signed by LTO Intelligence and Investigation Division Chief, Renante Melitante, requires the rider to submit a written explanation for why he should not be held liable for being an “Improper Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle.” The maximum penalty for this violation is the revocation of his driver’s license.

The LTO has set a hearing for August 20 and has ordered the rider to surrender his driver’s license on or before the scheduled date. The SCO further warns that failure to appear will be considered a waiver of rights, and the case will be decided based on the evidence at hand.
