Marc Marquez DNF at COTA GP
It was a bit frustrating for Marc Marquez, as a crash in turn 4 broke his winning streak at the 2025 MotoGP season. According to Marquez, who was leading the race before the crash, it wasn't very pleasant because it happened in one of the easiest turns at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA), Austin, Texas, USA.
“In the easiest moment of the race, I was trying to control the distance. I got a bit too much and got caught on turn 5 [4] and lose the front [tire],” says Marquez, who has 7 COTA wins under his belt. “It was completely my mistake. Sorry for the team.”
Meanwhile, it was still sweet for Ducati as Marc’s teammate, Francesco Bagnaia, took the chequered flag of the COTA GP.
Bagnaia, who started from 6th, went to 3rd in the first few corners, and then took the lead on lap 9, and eventually won the race.
The Marquez brothers are locked in a tight championship fight, with Alex leading Marc by a single point. Meanwhile, Ducati maintains its dominance in both the teams and manufacturers’ standings. The riders are now preparing for the Qatar Grand Prix at the Lusail International Circuit in two weeks.
