MDPPA fights fake parts, reports strong 2025 sales and bright 2026 outlook

The Motorcycle Development Program Participants Association, Inc. (MDPPA) reinforced its advocacy for rider safety and industry integrity as it held two major events on November 4, highlighting its campaign against counterfeit motorcycle parts and presenting a strong outlook for the growing motorcycle market in the Philippines.

The day began with a Product and Branding Seminar at the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) in Taguig City, designed to help employees of MDPPA member brands and industry partners distinguish genuine motorcycle parts from counterfeit ones. The initiative aims to address the increasing circulation of fake components that endanger riders and damage consumer trust.

“Being able to tell what’s genuine and what’s counterfeit is not just about brand protection—it’s about ensuring every Filipino rider gets home safe,” said Erwin Estrada, Vice President of MDPPA, in his opening remarks.

Later in the day, MDPPA hosted a press conference detailing its sales projections for the remainder of 2025 and an optimistic forecast for 2026. From January to September 2025, MDPPA reported 1,398,314 motorcycle units sold nationwide, with year-end figures projected to reach 1,793,219 units—a 6.7% increase compared to 2024. Looking ahead, the association expects 4% growth in 2026, pushing sales beyond the 1.85 million-unit mark.

“We remain optimistic as motorcycles continue to be the top mobility choice for Filipinos due to their affordability, fuel efficiency, ease of maintenance, and ability to navigate traffic efficiently,” said Alex Cumpas, President of MDPPA.

The event also marked the official launch of MDPPA’s “No to Counterfeit” Campaign, a nationwide initiative to promote product authenticity, enhance public safety, and encourage responsible purchasing behavior among riders.

The MDPPA represents leading motorcycle brands—Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha, and TVS—and continues to advocate for road safety, environmental responsibility, and sustainable industry growth.
