MMDA announces 24/7 EDSA rehabilitation during Holy Week

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has confirmed that round-the-clock rehabilitation works will be conducted along EDSA during this year’s Holy Week. The announcement follows an earlier statement from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), which said it plans to take advantage of the lighter traffic during the holiday period to accelerate repairs and minimize disruptions to motorists.

MMDA Chairman, Atty. Don Artes, stated that the 24/7 works will begin at 10 p.m. on Wednesday (April 1) and continue until 5 a.m. on Monday (April 6). He noted that traffic is typically lighter during these days and added that advisories will be issued and personnel deployed to manage traffic flow in the construction zones.

Partial lane closures along EDSA are scheduled to start at 10 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1, with continuous rehabilitation activities set to run until 5 a.m. on Monday, April 6.

Rehabilitation works on EDSA began in late December last year, initially focusing on the busway lane. According to the DPWH, the first phase of the project, covering the stretch from Roxas Boulevard in Pasay City to Orense Street in Makati City, is now nearly 50 percent complete and is expected to be finished by July.
