New Motorcycle and Bicycle Repair Station inaugurated
Motorcycle riders and cyclists traversing EDSA now have another source of free emergency assistance, with the MMDA’s inauguration of a new repair station beneath the Quezon Avenue flyover in Quezon City. The upgraded facility, housed in a container van, is equipped with tools for basic repairs and vulcanizing, with trained MMDA staff on hand to assist with breakdowns.
MMDA Chairman, Atty. Don Artes says that this Motorcycle and Bicycle Repair Station (MBRS) supports the growing number of motorcycle riders and cyclists in Metro Manila by providing essential infrastructure and safety measures, in line with the President’s agenda. He described it as a vital lay-by for mechanical issues and roadside emergencies.
“Aligned with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s agenda for infrastructure development, the MMDA MBRS is part of several initiatives aimed at improving the infrastructure and safety measures for the growing number of motorcycle riders and bikers in Metro Manila,” said Artes.
Artes also noted that former MMDA Chairman Atty. Benhur Abalos conceived the project. Operating from 6 AM to 10 PM daily, this station adds to the existing MBRS on EDSA (Ortigas and another Quezon Ave. in front of DILG office), as well as those on Roxas Blvd., Commonwealth Ave., and Ortigas Ave.
The MMDA intends to establish more MBRS along C5, Baclaran, Monumento, and Roxas Blvd. DOTr Undersecretary Mark Steven Pastor commended the MMDA for supporting active mobility and minimizing traffic disruptions.
“We applaud the MMDA for this important initiative by pushing for active mobility and minimize disruptions to traffic flow,” said Pastor.
Other stakeholders present during the event are George Royeca, co-founder of Angkas; Ira Cruz of Grab Philippines; and Alyssa Belda of Make It Safer Movement (MISMO).
