CFMOTO 800 MT-X is here
It was November of 2023 when the world had the first glance of CFMOTO’s 800 MT-X Concept, which was shown at EICMA. Then, last night, we all thought that Motostrada was only going to launch 3 new CFMOTO models – the 500SR VOOM, 675SR-R, and 150SC – which we’ve already seen in their visuals that were already made available to the local motorcycle media.
We were in for a surprise, as the totally unannounced launching of the 800 MT-X took place.
KTM 790 Adventure R’s cousin
It is no secret the KTM sources many of its components from CFMOTO, including the mighty LC8 engine that powers its middleweight bike lineup, the 790 Adventure R being one of them. As such, it’s only just a matter of time when CFMOTO will produce its own version of one of KTM’s best-selling motorcycles.
That said, the heart of the 800 MT-X is the same 799 cc parallel-twin engine found on the KTM, and delivers a maximum power output of 95 Ps and 88 Nm of torque, making it a potent force for both on-road cruising and off-road challenges. The 800 MT-X is built on a steel tubular frame, offering rigidity and strength to handle rough terrains, while the adjustable KYB suspension ensures that the bike adapts to various riding conditions its rider would be willing to tackle.
Obviously (and like its Austrian cousin), the 800 MT-X was designed and built with focus on off-road performance. The bike features spoked wheels with 21-inch front and 18-inch rear tires, which is a clear indication of its adventure-first design. These larger wheels, combined with its stock CST dual-sport tires with similar tread pattern to Pirelli’s Scorpion Rally STR tires, are expected to provide excellent traction and stability on dirt roads, gravel, and other challenging terrains.
The long-travel suspension and off-road-focused ABS give riders more control and confidence when tackling rough terrain, steep slopes, or unexpected obstacles.
The 800 MT-X is also packed with modern technology and comes equipped with a 7-inch TFT display that provides all the essential information at a glance, including navigation, tire pressure monitoring, Bluetooth connectivity, and riding modes. The bike also features cruise control, cornering ABS, slipper clutch, quick-shifter, and Over The Air (OTA) upgrade through CFMOTO’s TBox, allowing for a customizable riding experience.
As with the 790 Adventure R, the 800 MT-X was designed with rally racing in mind, highlighted by its tall windscreen, hand guards, and robust protection on both the frame and engine. The bike can also be equipped with pannier mounts and a rear luggage rack, allowing riders to carry essential gear for multi-day trips. With an inverted U-shaped fuel tank with a capacity of 22.5 liters, the 800 MT-X offers ample range for those long-distance rides through the mountains, countryside, or coastal roads of the Philippines.
The 800 MT-X will be available soon in Motostrada and CFMOTO dealership showrooms in the country within the year. SRP is PHP 676,900 – which is PHP 121,100 (not ACPI's closing out sale price) more affordable than the 2023 model-year KTM 790 Adventure R.
