Luzon econo run sets new fuel efficiency record for the Burgman Street
The Suzuki Burgman Street 125 has recently set a new fuel efficiency record of 94.6 km/L here in Luzon, beating the previous record that was set in Mindanao last month with a 93.7 km/L fuel efficiency.
Suzuki Philippines’ Motorcycle Division successfully concluded the Luzon leg of the Suzuki Burgman Econo Run 2024 last May 11, 2024, with a top result of 94.6 km/L for the Burgman Street Standard and 76.52 km/L for the EX variant.
With almost 100 riders participating from various Suzuki riding clubs, media and vloggers, the Luzon Econo Run kicked-off at the Suzuki Antipolo Motorcycle City 3S Shop, then through the twisties, uphill and downhill roads of Teresa, Morong, Pililia, Famy, Pagsanjan, Louisiana towards the dreamy town of Lucban to the Batis Aramin Resort and Hotel where the eco run concluded.
Parameters were set for all participants who shared a single route and rode in a convoy. The suggested speed was 40kph to 60kph except during traffic wherein slowing down is necessary. Riders are also not allowed to turn off their engine. Marshals are present to ensure that these rules are followed and those who violate them will be disqualified.
The Suzuki Burgman Street Standard and EX variants were the featured scooters for the challenge. Both models are known for their impressive fuel economy and comfortable riding experience. This series of fuel efficiency challenges proved to be an exciting happening not just to Burgman Street riders and owners all over the country, but to motorcycle enthusiasts as a whole – who are anticipating that the series conclusion will surpass the results that Visayas and Mindanao has set, to which Luzon participants did not disappoint.
For the riders category, Ariosto Franco narrowly wins over Jerome Tariol, setting the best record of the series with a 94.6 km/L fuel efficiency, while the latter has set an impressive 94.5 km/L fuel efficiency. They are both riding the Burgman Street Standard.
As for the Burgman Street EX riders, Ferdie Santiago came on top with a 76.5 km/L fuel efficiency, followed by Jesie Santos with a 74.6 km/L fuel efficiency.
For the media and vloggers category, Alex Alo of Lifestyle on Wheels (Burgman Street Standard) achieved a 73.9 km/L fuel efficiency, followed by Ruben Moreno, Jr., (Burgman Street EX) who achieved a 73.6 km/L fuel efficiency.
When asked about how the winners achieved their remarkable fuel economy, they shared techniques such as better throttle control, keeping the right speed, correct riding posture, proper maintenance of their motorcycle units, as well as riding along to the bike’s responsiveness to keep its smooth pace.
This activity, other than being a fun and friendly contest, also promotes the importance of practicing responsible riding habits for better fuel efficiency especially since the cost of living is very high. One of the media/motovlogger participants (EzeMoto) even did his own fuel-economy run on a Burgman Street EX with a pillion on the same route and they still achieved a notable 59 km/L fuel efficiency.
The Burgman Street Standard and EX variants are two of Suzuki’s Scooter offerings that are dubbed as the most affordable automatic motorcycles with maxi-scooter styling.
