New online portal for checking license plate availability from LTO-NCR
Motorcycle owners have been waiting for their license plates from the Land Transportation Office (LTO) for the longest time. There are a number of factors that affected the delay of the delivery of these license plates, which the Department of Transportation (DOTr) already discussed here.
With the reforms that the LTO enacted over the past few years, production of plates are in full swing and newer motorcycles are being issued with their respective license plates.
For those who have bought their motorcycle units in the National Capital Region (NCR), there is actually an online portal where you can check the availability of your bike’s license plate.
To check, just go to https://www.ltoncr.com/newplateinquiry and on the search bar type in your motorcycle’s assigned plate number on your OR/CR. The portal will provide the New Registration Unit (NRU) where the motorcycle was registered, the name of the dealer and the date of release to the motorcycle dealer.
If a release date is already available, you may then claim your bike’s license plate from the dealer. This portal also works for brand-new motor vehicles.
If you’re a car owner, you can also use this other website which the LTO-NCR created to check the availability of your vehicle’s replacement license plate. To check, just go to https://www.ltoncr.com/rplateinquiry and input your vehicle’s license plate number without spaces. If the replacement plate is already available, you may then proceed to the LTO district or extension office displayed or you may request the LTO to send your license plate for pick up at their office near you.
As of press time, both portals are working intermittently and may be offline by the time you log in. Also, these LTO online portals are specific to NCR-registered vehicles and motorcycles only. For other regions, contact the LTO district office near you.
