DPWH to conduct rehabilitation works on Magallanes flyover
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has announced that the rehabilitation works on the Magallanes flyover will commence next week.
“We will start with the installation of carbon fiber sheets and plates at the lower portion [of the flyover] so we would not immediately implement road closures,” said DPWH - National Capital Region (NCR) Director Loreta Malaluan.
No lane closures yet
Malaluan said that road closures will not be implemented yet, since the DPWH will begin the rehab works on the lower portion of the flyover. Only motorists from the U-turn slot located below the Magallanes flyover will be affected in the meantime.
“As for the lower part, it is mostly used by pedestrians. A U-turn slot might be affected. It will not be closed but there might be some inconvenience or traffic congestion,” said the DPWH-NCR Director.
Malaluan added that the rehabilitation works that would require some lane closures will be done once the rehab works on the EDSA-Kamuning flyover is done. She noted that the expansion joints of the southbound portion of the Magallanes flyover will be replaced and only the outer lanes will be passable to light vehicles.
The retrofitting and rehab works of the Magallanes flyover are expected to last for 9 months.
