Suzuki graces this year's national motorcycle convention
Suzuki Philippines accelerated the excitement at the National Federation of Motorcycle Clubs of the Philippines (NFMCP) Convention 2024 with the introduction of two of the brand’s most anticipated models which set the new standard of supremacy in high-performing bikes – the GSX 8R and the GSX-S1000GX held at the Subic Bay Exhibition and Convention Center on April 26-27, 2024.
The launch, a highlight of the NFMCP Convention 2024, showcased Suzuki's unwavering commitment to pushing boundaries in motorcycle engineering and design. “With the launch of the GSX-8R and GSX-S1000GX, a new era for Big Bikes in the Philippines begins,” declared Mr. Norminio “Boying” Mojica, Managing Director of Suzuki Philippines. “An era where performance reigns supreme together with the rider as he becomes one with the machine.”
These statements were echoed by Mr. Joey Salavarria, Division Head for MC Sales and Marketing at Suzuki Philippines. “All made in Japan inspired by Suzuki’s signature manufacturing engineering – we are proud to bring to the Philippines these models that have been making rounds the moment they were introduced in EICMA last year,” he shared.
The New Standard of Supremacy
The GSX-8R is engineered for speed and precision handling. This middleweight sportbike boasts a 776cm Parallel Twin Engine, 4-stroke, 2-cylinder, Liquid-cooled, DOHC with a Full LCD Instrument Panel, LED Headlights, and Position Light that delivers exhilarating acceleration and a responsive ride. The design is inspired by the GSX-R’s 35-year history. From the sharp, clean design of the front face and fairing, to the slim profile of its rear section, every detail of the GSX-8R’s mass-forward aggressive stance and well-balanced proportions instantly convey performance potential.
A fine fusion of riding pleasure elements whether your may be on the road, the mountains or doing a hard throttle ride on the racetrack. This is a bike that is made for an exciting new era of sportbike riding – the GSX-8R. The GSX-8R is priced at an SRP of Php 679,000 and is available in Metallic Triton Blue and Metallic Matte Black.
The GSX-S1000 GX on the other hand, takes street performance to a whole new level. It is powered by a 999 cc liquid-cooled, DOHC, inline-four engine engineered to perform optimally under diverse riding conditions and in all kinds of traffic.
Derived from the engine that helped carry the GSXR1000 supersport machine to countless racing championship titles, this street-tuned powerplant benefits from a fusion of race-proven engineering and the latest in technological advances to achieve the durability and balanced performance needed to support both long-distance touring and aggressive sport riding, while also satisfying Euro 5 emissions standards. Its sharp design and advanced features make it a perfect choice for riders who crave an adrenaline-pumping experience.
The GSX-S1000GX is available in two colors – Metallic Triton Blue and Glass Sparkle Black and is priced at an SRP of Php 969,000.
A Gathering of Leaders and Enthusiasts
The event was graced by prominent figures including former President Rodrigo Duterte, Senator Bato Dela Rosa and Senator JV Ejercito who are also known to be passionate motorcycle riders and advocates and road safety. Wheeltek VP for Sales and Marketing, Mr. Roscoe Odulio also joined Team Suzuki during the event with Managing Director, Mr. Norminio “Boying” Mojica, Division Head for MC Sales and Marketing, Mr. Joey Salavarria, Big Bikes Group Head, Mr. Roland Raymundo, and Big Bikes Supervisor, Ms. Mary Ann Garcia.
Beyond the Launch
Suzuki Philippines also showcased other popular big bikes including the fastest production bike of the 20th century - Hayabusa, the sportbike GSX-R1000 and The Master of Adventures – V- STROM 1050DE and V-STROM 800DE which cater to a wide range of riding styles and purposes.
