New NMAX Turbo now available in Indonesia

While we Filipinos were busy celebrating our 126th Independence Day, the Indonesians were also busy welcoming Yamaha’s updated NMAX – the NMAX Turbo.

‘Turbo’

Yamaha introduces the latest generation of NMAX with the new “Turbo”, giving its riders the feel of having a turbocharged engine. Yamaha did this by carrying over the same 155 cc Blue Core liquid-cooled engine with Variable Valve Timing (VVT) and updating it with what the company calls the Yamaha Electric Continuously Variable Transmission or YECVT.

In layman’s terms, the YECVT is just basically an electronically-assisted CVT that gives the new NMAX an extra boost when needed. Additionally, the new NMAX Turbo is now equipped with two riding modes: T-Mode for efficient daily mobility and the S-Mode for touring with more responsive acceleration. From what we understood from the Indonesian-language brochures, it is the S-Mode that activates the YECVT giving its rider the sensation of having a turbo-charged engine.

Besides the two driving modes, the NMAX Turbo is also equipped with Y-Shift feature which enables the rider to do instant acceleration with three levels, namely Low, Medium, and High, and helps when deceleration on a downward or bending road.

Other features include full LED lighting, a large TFT screen with Bluetooth connectivity and navigation display (with use of the Yamaha app), an electronic gadget charging port, ABS, traction control and many more.

With all these new features, how much do you think the new NMAX Turbo would retail here in the Philippines?
