Easytrip Services Corporation reports data breach
Radio Frequency IDs (RFIDs) have now become a must for all motorists who use expressways due to their convenience, avoiding the long queues in the cash lane thus making your travel faster (and saving fuel, too). Additionally, the government has been pushing for full RFID use to make our tollways full-contactless payment.
Just recently, however, one of the two RFID service providers here in the country has reported a data breach in their system, and information such as account number, plate number, mobile number, and email address may have been exposed.
Easytrip Services Corporation – which is the RFID service provider for the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), Harbor Link, Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), CAVITEX, C5 Link Expressway, Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX), and Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) – has reported a data breach that affected their client’s information.
Easytrip released this statement:
“As part of our commitment to keep you updated on the status of your account information, we would like to inform you that your personal information may have been involved in a limited data breach that took place last 07 September 2024. The security of your account information is of utmost importance to us, and we are committed to protecting the privacy of your data, as well as the security and integrity of your toll wallet balances.
The breach was done through an unauthorized use of access to our testing environment. Rest assured, the affected system has been contained, and your RFID balance is intact and secure.
Your Easytrip account information such as account number, plate number, mobile number, email address may have been exposed. We strongly recommend that you reset your password immediately to further secure your account information.
