University of Bologna and Ducati claim 3rd straight MotoStudent International title
The University of Bologna and Ducati have once again showcased Italian innovation and engineering excellence as the UniBo Motorsport Team clinched the Best MotoStudent Team 2025 title in the Electric category of the MotoStudent International Competition at MotorLand Aragón, Spain.
This victory marks the team’s third consecutive championship, following wins with the Minerva (2021) and Nemesi (2023) prototypes. Their latest electric motorcycle, the Vega #88, continued the team’s winning streak, underscoring the success of the partnership between the University of Bologna and Fondazione Ducati, the educational and research foundation of the Borgo Panigale manufacturer.
The collaboration began in 2018 with the Alpha Leonis prototype, which earned the Best Rookie Award. Since then, it has produced four prototypes, three world titles, and an enduring reputation for academic and technical excellence.
Claudio Domenicali, CEO of Ducati and President of Fondazione Ducati, praised the achievement.

University Rector Giovanni Molari added that the partnership represents “a positive example of how academia and industry can work together to generate innovation, expertise, and success.”
Competing against 42 university teams worldwide, the UniBo Motorsport Vega #88 dominated the event, winning the Gymkhana and Top Speed tests, earning pole position, and finishing second in the final race, also taking first place in Best Design.
This third straight title cements the collaboration between Ducati and the University of Bologna as a model for developing future engineers and advancing electric mobility innovation.
