Honda's 38th factory established in Turkey
When discussions turn to small motorcycles and scooters, the spotlight usually falls on countries like the Philippines and other parts of Southeast Asia, where affordable and dependable mobility plays a major role in daily life, whether for work, commuting, or simple day-to-day errands.
But halfway around the world, Honda has seen the growing demand for small-displacement motorcycles in another market: Turkey. One of the world’s oldest civilizations has likewise embraced small bikes not just for deliveries, but also as practical personal transportation, prompting Honda to establish its own manufacturing facility in the country.
Just recently, Honda opened a new motorcycle production facility in AliaÄŸa, Ä°zmir, marking a key milestone in its long-term commitment to Turkey and the continued expansion of its global motorcycle operations. Operated by Honda Türkiye A.Åž., the plant is the company’s 38th motorcycle production facility worldwide.
The facility spans a total area of 100,000 square meters, including 45,000 square meters of indoor production space. It is expected to strengthen local supply chains, support regional development, and generate broader economic value in the area. Designed in line with Honda’s global environmental standards, the plant places emphasis on efficiency and sustainability under the company’s broader environmental vision.
Production began in April 2026 with an initial annual capacity of 100,000 units, with the potential to scale up to 200,000 motorcycles in the future. The facility is also expected to create around 300 direct jobs, contributing to employment growth in the Ä°zmir region.
Built to Honda’s global manufacturing standards, the AliaÄŸa plant focuses on quality, efficiency, and flexibility, enabling the production of reliable and affordable motorcycles while strengthening local supply capabilities.
Like its Philippine counterpart, Honda Türkiye also supports community initiatives, including road safety education programs and tree-planting efforts aimed at restoring wildfire-affected areas.
