CUV e: introduced by Honda for 2025
Honda is on track with its carbon neutrality goal for the coming years as it introduces another e-scooter for its lineup: the CUV e:.
Born 30 years ago
Following the arrival of the EM1 e: electric scooter for 2023 model year (arrived in the PH in 2024), the CUV e: is Honda’s second two-wheeled electric vehicle for customers. According to Honda, it is another step forward in the company’s plan to introduce 10 or more electric two wheelers globally by 2025, and towards its longer term aim of carbon neutrality for its motorcycle line-up in the 2040s.
The letters CUV have, in fact, appeared on a Honda vehicle before - 30 years ago, to be precise. The original CUV ES – Clean Urban Vehicle Electric Scooter – was a Japanese-market-only model, launched in 1994. The CUV e: is a Clean Urban Vehicle ready for the challenges of today’s urban mobility.
Honda adds that the CUV e: “has significantly more ‘grown up’ potential,” with smooth acceleration and top speed comparable to a 125cc Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) scooter.
Dual battery
The CUV e: will be powered by a dual swappable 48V/1.3kW Honda Mobile Power Pack e: batteries which will then propel its 6kW E-Drive side motor. Top speed is 83km/h with a range (claimed) of over 70km and Reverse Assist which helps with parking in and out of tight spaces. The CUV e: also features three riding modes – SPORT, STANDARD and ECON – delivering full, balanced or ‘softer’ performance which, of course, can affect this e-scooter’s battery range.
Charging time from zero to 100%, according to Honda, is 6 hours while zero to 75% battery charging would only take 3 hours. Honda also claims that its Mobile Power Pack e: can be charged over 2,500 times.
Other features include a 5-inch (7-inch in the premium version) TFT screen with smartphone connectivity, full-LED lighting, USB-C port, remote key and more.
